About P.A.I.N.S Lab
The P.A.I.N.S lab operates out of the Alberta Children’s Hospital, allowing for close interaction with patients, clinical teams and other researchers. The lab utilizes state-of-the-art lab equipment and is one of the few places in Canada to apply advanced neuroimaging techniques to study the effects of pain and anesthesia on the developing brain. As such, the P.A.I.N.S lab offers several unique opportunities for individuals interested in a neuroscience career or a career in neuroimaging. The lab promotes a highly collaborative and supportive environment with an exciting variability in the research. While some neuroscience labs in Calgary focus on specific populations, the P.AI.N.S lab researches pediatric pain management from infancy to adulthood.

Trainees of the P.A.I.N.S lab will also have access to the clinical and research purpose-built space in the Vi Riddell Children’s Pain & Rehabilitation Centre. In addition to administering care for over 100,000 kids each year, the hospital also provides several opportunities for neuroscience jobs, neuroimaging jobs, and countless positions for other clinical and research personnel.
